Three separate bill proposals would provide greater, more equitable access to nature and protect critical natural resources

The San Gabriel Mountains Foothills and Rivers Protection Act, Central Coast Heritage Protection Act and Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation and Working Forest Act are the result of forward-looking leadership from Representatives Judy Chu, Salud Carbajal and Jared Huffman, and Senator Kamala Harris. With three powerful bill proposals, California’s elected leaders have shown they will not back down in the face of unprecedented attacks on public lands and the environment. All three bills were crafted after listening to the concerns of constituents, including local elected leaders, veterans, small business owners, faith leaders and the many people who value California’s magnificent wild lands.

Quote from Daniel Rossman, California Deputy Director, The Wilderness Society:

“These conservation proposals recognize the need to boost local economies dependent on recreation and tourism, provide greater access to nature and healthy outdoor activity, and protect critical sources of clean air and water. They also represent a vision for protecting large connected landscapes to ensure the survival of native plants and animals in this era of climate change.”
