The Wilderness Society names two vice presidents to key leadership posts

Monique Dailey and Chase Huntley will strengthen strategy, conservation program

As it transforms internal programming and strategic focus for the next decade, The Wilderness Society has named two key positions, Monique 'Mo' Dailey as Vice President for Conservation Program, and Chase Huntley as Vice President for Strategy and Results.

Monique Dailey is an experienced leader skilled in program development, community outreach, partnership management, and organizational policy development.  She comes to The Wilderness Society from City Kids Wilderness Project, where she provided strategic leadership as Director of Programs. Justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) are always at the center of her work.

“Monique’s strong management experience along with deep commitment to conservation, community engagement and to ensuring equity and inclusion in everything we do made her a wonderful choice to step into this crucial leadership role for The Wilderness Society,” said Jamie Williams, president of The Wilderness Society.

Prior to joining City Kids, Monique worked at the Student Conservation Association (SCA) for six years in various roles including national Director of Member Experience, where she oversaw the staff and procedures that improved the connection of all SCA member candidates to the organization through the management of SCA’s Recruiting, Admissions, and Member Services and Support departments.

In addition, The Wilderness Society has created a Vice President for Strategy and Results position and promoted Chase Huntley to the post. This new role will manage leaders of cross-functional teams and a nimble, campaign-oriented set of staff who will ensure that The Wilderness Society’s local and national work ladders up to the results in its strategic plan. This role will focus heavily on high level strategy, driving program innovation as well as integration and collaboration across the entire organization.

Chase has deep policy analysis, program development, and campaign management experience, having been the leader of TWS’ climate and energy program since 2015 and Interim Deputy Vice President since 2019. Earlier in his tenure at TWS, Chase co-led the Government Relations team and stood up our first renewable energy program.  Prior to TWS, he led project teams evaluating implementation of natural resource law and regulation served for more than six years at the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the investigative arm of the U.S. Congress. There he was responsible for evaluating the stewardship of public resources and the implementation of natural resource law and regulation. At that time, he spent for a year on detail to the House Government Reform Subcommittee on Energy and Resources, where his oversight work focused on energy security issues. Previously, Chase worked at USDA in the office of the Under Secretary of Agriculture for Natural Resources and Environment.

“This new VP role will be at the tip of the spear of driving an integrated, results-oriented approach to our work. This is essential to our ability to make public lands a solution to the three-pronged threat of climate change, loss of biodiversity and inequitable access to nature’s benefits,” said Williams. “Chase’s strong leadership, track record of successful program development and innovation, and deep policy and campaign expertise make him uniquely qualified for this position.”
