Today, the Senate released draft language for the 2021 U.S. Interior Department spending bill. On July 24, conservation provisions were approved in the House FY 2021 appropriations bill for Interior Department spending, and the House bill drew praise from the The Wilderness Society.
America Fitzpatrick, senior representative for The Wilderness Society said:
“At a time when communities and public lands face an ever-growing list of challenges from a world-wide pandemic to social and environmental injustices, we are disappointed the Senate Appropriations bill fails to adequately address these challenges. We demand increased funding for Native American communities and programs that invest in the public health and public lands, and urge the removal of riders such as the sage-grouse rider.”
