Senate energy package has troublesome mining giveaway
A Senate energy package headed for floor consideration next week was just released. Drew McConville, senior managing director of The Wilderness Society said:
“We’re disappointed to see a destructive mining bill snuck into what is purported to be an energy innovation package. It’s particularly disturbing to see this bad idea advanced while the Trump administration is pushing dangerous and unwanted mining from the Boundary Waters to Bears Ears. Let’s be clear, the American Mineral Security Act is not about energy innovation. It’s a giveaway to the mining industry at the expense of local communities and the environment.”
