Senate committee to vote on Fish and Wildlife Service nominee

This week the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will take up President Biden's nomination of Martha Williams to head the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Ms. Williams has been leading the agency on an acting basis since January when President Biden took office. The agency and the National Wildlife Refuge System it manages are poised to play a key role in addressing habitat and wildlife loss, improving climate resiliency, and implementing the administration’s 30x30 agenda.

Jamie Williams, president of The Wilderness Society said:

“Martha Williams is an outstanding pick to lead the Fish and Wildlife Service. She brings decades of conservation experience to the role and will ensure that public lands are managed to benefit everyone. Martha understands that the Fish and Wildlife Service’s priorities must be driven by science and reflect the needs of everyone, especially those who are most dependent on these lands and waters. We enthusiastically support her and urge the Senate to move quickly to approve her.”
