Massive oil drilling operation in Alaska would lock in decades of climate pollution

The Bureau of Land Management has recommended the approval of the Willow project, a massive oil drilling operation in Alaska that would lock in decades of climate pollution. By recommending approval of the project, the administration puts itself directly at odds with its stated aim of tackling the climate crisis.

The Willow Project alone is estimated to add more than 250 million metric tons of CO2 to the atmosphere over the next 30 years, if approved, and would likely spur additional oil development in the Western Arctic by building roads, pipelines and processing facilities that make future projects feasible.

President Biden can still get us back on track. However, he only has a few days to reverse course. President Biden must put these communities and a stable future first—not oil company executives.

Use this toolkit to find resources, including a letter to President Biden, social media videos and additional information, that will help you fight back against the Willow project
