The Wilderness Society uses the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) as a tool for ensuring transparent decisionmaking about our country’s public lands and wild places. TWS regularly submits FOIA requests to agencies like the Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service for records that ensure transparency and accountability.
Through this effort, TWS tracks submitted FOIA requests and aims to make released records available to the public. TWS assigns each FOIA request an internal tracking number. To navigate our released documents, use our tracker to view submitted requests, a short description of each request, and the associated internal tracking number. The documents are not altered and TWS invites review of these records. If you have any questions, please reach out to Alison Flint at Alison_Flint@tws.org.
