About the event:

The Robert Marshall Awards dinner is an opportunity for The Wilderness Society to build awareness of our vision and impact, grow our community of supporters, and inspire greater investment from existing supporters in the region. Most importantly, the dinner is a time to celebrate the recipient of The Robert Marshall Award—The Wilderness Society’s highest award presented to a private citizen who has never held federal office, but has devoted longterm service to and has had a notable influence upon conservation and the fostering of an American land ethic.

First held in 1981, the 2023 award dinner will honor two recipients. These extraordinary leaders in conservation will join the ranks of past awardees, including Sigurd Olson, Larry Rockefeller, Margaret Murie, Wallace Stegner, Peggy and Ed Wayburn, E.O. Wilson and Roxanne Quimby. The achievements of these individuals build on the legacy of the award’s namesake, Bob Marshall, who was a visionary leader of the wilderness protection movement, influential advocate of conservation with the federal government, and co-founder of The Wilderness Society.
