Rebecca joined the Wilderness Society in 2023 as the Urban to Wild Program Manager in Tucson. Rebecca values community, land, and environmental justice, asserting that public spaces should be places for healing and reconciliation for communities of color.
Rebecca joined The Wilderness Society after working as an environmental educator for several years. As an educator, she aimed to create an inclusive and fun learning environment that fosters building relationships with the community and land. As Program Manager at TWS, she connects communities to resources that promote intersectional access to public land. She also advocates for conservation that centers environmental justice and the needs of historically excluded communities.
Rebecca graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Literacy, Learning, and Leadership. Rebecca also worked as a graduate student researcher at the Center for Community and Citizen Science, studying environmental science agency in youth participating in a fire-resiliency community science project in Nevada County, CA. Rebecca also participates in several activist movements that center environmental justice, labor, immigration, LGBTQIA+ rights, dis/ability justice, housing justice, and many others.
Rebecca enjoys leisurely bike rides and strolls, nature journaling, spending time outdoors with family, attending live musical performances, and visiting science and art museums in her free time.
