Kathy Zeller (headshot)

Mason Cummings, TWS

Kathy is an applied spatial ecologist with over two decades of experience leading and collaborating on innovative science that informs land management and conservation. Her research integrates the fields of landscape ecology, wildlife biology, sensory ecology, landscape genetics, and biostatistics to understand how patterns and processes of human-driven disturbance affect wildlife populations, biodiversity, and large ecological networks. Kathy has over 50 scientific publications in leading journals such as Science, Current Biology, Biological Conservation, and others. Her passion lies in applying scientific research to conservation and management challenges. 

Kathy received her PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, her MS from the University of Montana, and her BS from Tufts University. Prior to joining TWS, Kathy was a Research Biologist for the Forest Service's Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute, a research fellow with the Massachusetts Cooperative Wildlife Research Unit, and led the spatial analysis lab for Panthera, a global non-profit dedicated to wild cat conservation.
