Karyn has worked with TWS, as a Community Coordinator, in a contract position for several years in Lincoln, MT. She has been responsible for leading the legislation strategy, community organizing, and partnership engagement for the
Lincoln Prosperity Proposal – a community-led legislative campaign that will expand recreation opportunities and boost local businesses along the big Blackfoot River in the Crown landscape while ensuring protection of clean water, habitat and wide-open spaces. The plan offers management recommendations for 200,000-acres of national forest lands and includes permanent land protection for critical wildlife habitat and forests through new Wilderness and Conservation Management Area designations.
Karyn's work is particularly important to her, because for many years Lincoln was the place she called home. She understands the importance of listening to local voices and is passionate about community-led conservation. She has seen firsthand how giving people space to be heard can lead to unique partnerships and healthier communities and landscapes. It has been her pleasure to visit over a cup of coffee with area ranchers, outfitters, business owners, recreation groups, etc. to hear their stories and to learn from their perspective.
She is also passionate about teaching the next generation about the importance of being good stewards of the beautiful places we are fortunate to call home. She is the lead-coordinator for the Lincoln Outdoor Club, a recreation and education program that provides youth with opportunities to explore and fall in love with their surrounding public lands.
