The BLM has announced its final list of parcels for their March 2019 lease sale in Colorado, posting 6 parcels covering 1,092 acres, while deferring the consideration of 20 parcels covering 12,960 acres. What’s important here is the parcels that were deferred are not completely off the table and could still appear in the June 2019 sale. The agency’s announcement starts a 10-day protest period, which will end February 22, 2018.
The following statement is from Jim Ramey, Colorado state director:
“Acting Secretary Bernhardt’s drill everywhere approach to our public lands is so out of step with Colorado values that the agency has once again deferred controversial drilling leases without acknowledging the many conflicts raised in the submitted comments over leasing these lands in the first place.
“Interior ought to take seriously concerns from the public and state and local governments to make sure important uses like outdoor recreation and important wildlife habitat are protected.”
