Mitchell joined The Wilderness Society in 2025 as a Postdoctoral Energy and Climate Research Fellow.
He brings a strong background in processing, analysing, and visualising large oceanic and atmospheric geospatial and temporal data sets to tackle complex problems.
In 2025, Mitchell completed his dissertation from the University of California San Diego in Oceanography. Additionally, Mitchell holds a Bachelor of Science in oceanography and geography from the University of Otago, and a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honors in geophysics from the University of Auckland.
Outside of work Mitchell enjoys backpacking, hiking, watching soccer/football, and (badly) playing video- and board-games.
