Laura is the Director of Digital Campaigns & Membership Engagement for The Wilderness Society's digital communications team. In that role, Laura leverages her expertise in digital advocacy and content strategy to inform and inspire supporters and Americans to get involved and protect wilderness.
In addition to her work on a range of digital and graphic projects, Laura has worked as a content strategist, online editor, social media manager, print editor and communications leader in nonprofit and government. She has also worked as a writer and reporter for a variety of print and online news outlets, including national and local Gannett-owned newspapers.
While earning her master’s degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from The American University in Washington, D.C., Laura worked on issues around freedom of the press as a communications intern at the Freedom Forum and later spent time as a reporter for The Baltic Times newspaper in Tallinn, Estonia, while researching post-Soviet news media.
Laura is a Colorado native with a passion for travel and culture. In the 1990s, she served as a Peace Corps high school English teacher in the former Soviet Union. She has spent time studying, teaching and writing in Ireland and Ecuador.
