Karla is a campaign strategist specializing in digital and distributed organizing. Prior to joining The Wilderness Society, Karla worked in various roles supporting progressive candidates, ballot initiatives, independent expenditures, nonprofits, and corporations.

In 2020, she was the Digital Organizing Director for the Colorado Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign to elect President Joe Biden and Senator John Hickenlooper, where she led a groundbreaking statewide voter contact program that resulted in over 5.5 million text messages sent to voters by more than 2,500 trained volunteers. Karla also managed digital voter contact programs in Iowa and Colorado for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign. During the 2018 election cycle, Karla was part of the team of strategists behind the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s unprecedented seven-figure campaign to boost turnout among young voters and voters of color, resulting in a historic election where Democrats flipped the most seats from red to blue since 1974.

Karla graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in political science and lives in Los Angeles.
