A born and raised Burqueño, Jonathan is dedicated to the conservation of public lands in New Mexico and across the country. He brings a decade of experience in environmental education, conservation management and planning, natural resources facilitation, and policy advocacy to TWS.
Jonathan holds two Bachelors of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of New Mexico. Previously, he has worked to establish conservation management plans for the Middle Rio Grande in New Mexico, reintroduce gray wolves in Colorado, and resource grassroots communities in regulatory advocacy in the Southwest and Southeast. He is dedicated to uplifting local perspectives in environmental policymaking and developing community-based power across issues such as public lands, wildlife, just transitions, and outdoor access. He sits on the board of directors for the Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program and the Goldens Coalition, two Albuquerque-based non-profit organizations focused on environmental education and art-based justice, respectively.
Jonathan has Pan Pacific roots in New Mexico and the Philippines. His New Mexican family tends lamb and grows green chile with pre-statehood land and water rights in Bosque, NM. When he is not hiking or camping on public lands, you can find him cooking his new favorite dish for his family and friends at his home in Albuquerque.
