Helen serves as our California State Director. She has worked in land conservation for more than two decades, most recently at the Natural Resources Defense Council where she served as the Director, Protected Areas Project and Director, Western Renewable Energy Project. At NRDC she was deeply involved in the development of the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan which created more than 4 million acres of new conservation protections in the Mojave. Prior to NRDC, she worked with the Trust for Public Land for eight years where she focused on land acquisition and park re-development.
Helen holds a Master’s in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communications from Washington and Lee University. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area where she enjoys trail running and paddle boarding as often as possible.
