Dan works with Congress and the Executive Branch to defend the President’s authority to designate new national monuments under the Antiquities Act. He also helps build relationships and support in Congress and the Executive Branch for some of The Wilderness Society’s priority place-based national monument campaigns.

Before joining The Wilderness Society as National Monuments Campaign Manager in February 2014, Dan worked for a federal relations consulting firm, FaegreBD Consulting, on a wide variety of federal issues on behalf of local governments and other public sector entities. Previously, Dan also worked for Congresswoman Donna Edwards (MD-04), the U.S. Green Building Council and Student Conservation Association. 

Dan is a proud terrapin, as an alumnus of the University of Maryland, with a B.S. in Biology. While there, Dan gained his love of public policy through his work in student government and the College Park City Council. His love of wilderness took root much earlier, while hiking and camping in northern New Jersey, as an Eagle Scout.

When they aren’t traveling, Dan, his wife Alicia and their dog Teddy (Roosevelt) can often be found running on the National Mall and trails in and around Washington, D.C.
