Charlie
Luke
Charlie oversees The Wilderness Society's efforts to protect Utah's wild places and public lands, bringing more than two decades of government affairs, advocacy, and public policy experience to the role.
Throughout his career, Charlie has worked at the intersection of politics, policy, and community engagement — managing federal, state, and local campaigns and representing private companies and associations before legislatures across the Intermountain West. He served as Executive Director of Canyon Guard, a nonprofit focused on conservation, transportation, and land use issues in Little Cottonwood Canyon, and previously led the Utah Association of Community Services.
Charlie served two terms on the Salt Lake City Council representing District 6. He has additionally served on the boards of Utah Wildlife Federation, Voices for Utah Children, and the Salt Lake City Planning Commission, and was appointed to the U.S. Selective Service Board by President Barack Obama.
Charlie enjoys spending time with family hiking throughout Utah’s Wasatch backcountry and southeastern Utah, and fly fishing Utah’s small mountain creeks.
