Alicia is an interdisciplinary ecologist currently based in the Southern California desert. She is originally from the rural Mississippi River community of Plaquemine, Louisiana. Her interests are in exploring the intersections of ecology, culture, history, advocacy, and technology to inform and develop equitable socio-ecological strategies in conservation and community resilience. Alicia holds a Master of Science in Urban Forestry, Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Ecology, and she is currently pursuing education in Data Science.
Prior to joining TWS, Alicia worked as a Federal wildlife biologist, leading projects in wildlife refuge management, policy and regulation, endangered species consultation and recovery, utility-scale renewable energy, regional habitat conservation planning, environmental education, interpretation, community partnership, and organizational justice, equity, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion (JEDAI). Alicia also brings a breadth of professional experience from previous roles in public lands management, designated wilderness, urban ecology, water resources, environmental planning, recreation, horticulture, and other fields, gained in landscapes throughout the Southeast and Southwest.
