Drew McConville is a Senior Director at The Wilderness Society where he leads the organization’s government relations team.

Before rejoining The Wilderness Society, he served for six years at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. As the Senior Advisor for Policy and Strategic Planning, Drew oversaw implementation of Administration environmental priorities, including the President’s Climate Action Plan, legislation on chemical safety, fossil fuel leasing reforms, and clean air regulations. He also developed Presidential actions to permanently preserve unique lands and waters, helped launch new initiatives like the “Every Kid in a Park” program, and convened auto companies, unions, environmental groups, and states to forge an agreement on fuel efficiency standards for cars and trucks.

Prior to joining the Council on Environmental Quality, Drew served as a policy analyst for the White House Office of Energy & Climate Change and for the Environmental Protection Agency’s air office. He has also worked as an analyst for the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions and as a communications specialist for The Wilderness Society.

Drew has a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a Master of Environmental Management degree from Duke University. He developed his love for the outdoors hiking and trail running in the forests of New England, fishing with his dad each summer in western Maine, and spending weekend cabin trips with friends in the Dartmouth Outing Club. Drew has also taken several long-distance bicycling trips, including a ride across the northern United States, and spent a year living in Lima, Peru and exploring parts of South America with his wife Megan.
