The Yampa River roadless area is 15 miles southwest of Craig. The Yampa River is considered the least affected by human intrusion of all of Colorado's mighty rivers. Downstream sections of the Yampa are already protected as are its headwaters within the Flat Tops Wilderness. This 12,414-acre proposed wilderness would add a midway segment of the river as it flows through the range land of Northwest Colorado.
