Spectacular rock formations and a scenic creek dominate the 25,259-acre Thompson Creek roadless area, 20 miles south of Glenwood Springs. This area is also a haven for wildlife such as elk, bear, mountain lion and mule deer. Cottonwood, oakbrush, piñon-juniper, Douglas-fir, aspen and ponderosa pine are all represented in the sublime beauty of Thompson Creek.
