Skull Creek is just north of Dinosaur along Route 40, and is contiguous with the Bull Canyon roadless area. Numerous slot canyons drain the Skull Creek Basin and some of the oldest piñon pine trees in North America are located within the 30,645-acre roadless area. Some of the trees date back to the twelfth century.
