Fifty miles southwest of Grand Junction on the edge of the Uncompahgre Uplift lies the Palisade. The 26,836-acre area takes its name from the large, narrow sandstone fin that can be seen from Gateway. The snowcapped La Sal Mountains in southern Utah are a stunning backdrop to this area of western Colorado.
