This 17,319-acre area of rugged, forested land is just 12 miles west of Cañon City. Bordering along the south bank of the Arkansas River, McIntyre Hills may contain the densest population of mountain lion in the western United States. This area generally remains snow-free, thus providing year round hiking opportunities for those along the front range.
