One mile north of the town of Dinosaur, Bull Canyon hides a world of intricately carved canyons near the entrance of Dinosaur National Monument. This 16,736-acre area of piñon-juniper forest provides habitat for a large raptor population, including golden eagle, Great horned owls, red-tailed hawks and marsh hawks. The BLM believes that Bull Canyon contains some of the oldest piñon pines in North America, dating back to the twelfth century, an invaluable resource for researching climate variations.
