West Virginia Highlands Conservancy Spring Review 2004

Following a nearly 40-year-old tradition, the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy will hold their annual Spring Review April 23-25 in West Virginia’s Canaan Valley. The Canaan Valley is home of the Nation’s 500th National Wildlife Refuge, and the heart of the Monongahela National Forest. The weekend will feature a Saturday evening presentation on Appalachian Ecology by George Constantz, the Education Coordinator for the Canaan Valley Institute and author of the popular book Hollows, Peepers, and Highlandsers: an Appalachian Mountain Ecology.

Several outings are planned to Blackwater Canyon, Roaring Plains, Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Dolly Sods Wilderness and more. The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge will host a workshop on orienteering using GPS, and a service outing to remove some fencing from Refuge lands.
