Exotic Weeds in Wilderness

Invasive exotic weeds have altered the natural appearance many places in the west, as well as affecting natural processes. All too often, the intruders out-compete native wildlife forage. That is happening now within the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness Area. The Wilderness Society supports U.S. Forest Service efforts to control invasive exotic weeds within the wilderness area.

Through a combination of user and landowner education, manual control, and spot application of herbicide, the Forest Service is conducting control efforts along the Main Salmon River and Middle Fork Salmon River within the wilderness.
