New Mexico's Community Fire Planning Zone

As you’ll see on this map of New Mexico, of the roughly 3 million acres located in the Community Fire Planning Zone (CFPZ), half of the land is privately or state-owned. Tribal land in the state, amounting to nearly 1/3 of the CFPZ, is not being adequately addressed, nor is the 17% of the land that is owned by the Forest Service and BLM. In order to effectively protect homes and communities, federal assistance must be targeted to at risk areas regardless of ownership.
