  • Bush Administration Flip Flops - Proposes Changes to Gut Roadless Area Rule

  • Despite an announcement earlier this month that the Bush Administration was going to let the Roadless Area Conservation Rule stand, the U.S. Forest Service announced on June 9, 2003, that it was proposing revisions to the rule that will undermine the protections the original rule set in place for America's wild forests.
     
  • House Members Renew Effort to Undermine Antiquities Act - Block New National Monuments

  • On June 5, Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID) along with 14 co-sponsors reintroduced the ill-named "National Monument Fairness Act."
     
  • Wilderness Brief: Mountain Biking in Wilderness Debated

  • Every group of conservationists working to see wilderness legislation introduced or passed by Congress must now factor the mountain biking community into the political equation.
     
  • Celebrating the Wild Sky - Wilderness Festival to be Held in Index, WA

  • On June 28, 2003 the Wild Washington Campaign along with 50 organizational and business sponsors is hosting the first-ever Wild Sky Wilderness Festival to celebrate and build support and awareness around the proposed Wild Sky Wilderness Area.
