  • Three Wilderness Bills Pass US House of Representatives: California, Idaho and Oregon

  • On July 24, 2006, the US House of Representatives passed three proposals to extend permanent protection to a total of more than 670,000 acres of wilderness in California, Idaho and Oregon. If enacted, these bills would provide permanent protection to some of the most important landscapes in each state.
     
  • House Approves Valle Vidal (NM) Protection Act

  • On Monday, July 24, 2006, the House of Representatives approved the Valle Vidal Protection Act of 2005 (H.R. 3817) by a voice vote. Authored by Rep. Tom Udall (NM-D), the legislation would permanently prohibit energy development and extraction in the 102,000-acre Valle Vidal unit of the Carson National Forest.
