  • Local Elected Officials Support Wilderness and Public Lands Resolutions for Dona Ana County, New Mexico

  • The Dona Ana County Commission and the Las Cruces City Council approved resolutions on January 25 and February 6, 2006, respectively, supporting the designation of all existing Wilderness Study Areas in Dona Ana County as well as two additional citizens’ proposed wilderness areas -- the East Potrillo Mountains proposed wilderness and the Broad Canyon citizens’ proposed wilderness area.
     
  • White Pine County Commission (Nevada) Prepares Public Lands Bill Requests

  • On Saturday, January 28, 2006, the White Pine County Commission agreed on the recommendations they will forward to Nevada’s congressional delegation indicating what the county would like to see included in a public lands bill. The recommendations were approved unanimously following two days of workshops held in Ely, Nevada.
     
  • Charleston Gazette Editorializes In Favor of West Virginia Wilderness

  • On February 4, 2006, the Charleston Gazette editorialized in favor of Wilderness designation for the Monongahela National Forest.
