  • Cedar Mountain Wilderness (Utah) Approved By House Resources Committee

  • On May 19, 2004, the House Resources Committee unanimously approved a revised version of H.R. 2909 (Utah Test and Training Range Protection Act) which would designate nearly 100,000 acres of land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in western Utah as the Cedar Mountain Wilderness.
     
  • Survey Shows Strong Support for Oregon's Badlands Wilderness & Huge Jump in Awareness of Issue

  • A new survey released in May 2004 found that a strong majority of eastern Oregon voters support a proposal to designate the Badlands Wilderness Area.
     
  • Rep. Nethercutt Announces Support For Wild Sky Wilderness

  • After months of speculation, Representative George Nethercutt (R-WA) announced on May 14, 2004, that he supports protection of the Wild Sky Wilderness and pledged to get legislation passed that would finally protect the area.
