The Robert Marshall Award
The Robert Marshall Award is The Wilderness Society's highest award presented to a private citizen who has never held federal office but has devoted long-term service to and has had a notable influence upon conservation and the fostering of an American land ethic.

The Gaylord Nelson Earth Day Award
The Wilderness Society's Gaylord Nelson Earth Day Award is presented to youth organizations whose activities have contributed to a sustainable environment and to the promotion of a conservation ethic. This award was established to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Earth Day and to honor its founder, Gaylord Nelson, for a life dedicated to protecting the environment.

 

The Aldo Leopold Award
This award is given to an editorial writer who has produced editorials forcefully making the case for protecting America's remaining wild lands. The honor is named for the author of A Sand County Almanac, Aldo Leopold, who also was a founder of The Wilderness Society.

The Gregg Liebowitz Memorial Staff Award
This award is named after former Wilderness Society staff member Gregg Liebowitz (1962-1992) and is given each year to one employee who is considered to personify the best of the attributes we treasure most in those who have joined in our work: "...enthusiasm, creativity, compassion, the gift of sharing, and a fierce dedication to the principle that our responsibilities as human beings include a loving concern for all the forms and varieties of life with which we share the natural world of this planet."
